Saberboy-Chapter 3(Part 3)

We continued going up until we were at the very top. There was only a door on the side and Sef urged me to follow. He pushed open the door and there I saw a big oval shaped table surrounded by 12 men and women sitting down on a chair. Sef and I sat on two empty seats and looked up. I realized that there was a second floor that had and older man and woman sitting down quietly. And guess what? They were all looking down at me. That was so awkward. One of the older men to the right cleared his throat and said "Sef the Creator, are you sure that this is the Saberboy?" "Indeed, I know it when I see one", said Sef as he looked at me and smiled. It was a happy smile and it helped me to calm down a little. Then the older woman on the left said "Young boy, what is your name?" "Um, my name is Justin", I answered. "Where are you from?", said the older woman. "I'm from Beverly Hills-no, I'm from planet earth", I answered. It seemed saying my planet's name was the right thing to do. I mean, how do I know if I'm still on earth right now? And I think it was the wrong move. The moment I said that I was from planet earth, the entire place was full with whispers and chatters. "Silence!", said the older man. "Now, Justin, are now the newly appointed Saberboy", said the older woman. Suddenly, the room was full with people shouting and protesting. "He is not worthy to be the Saberboy! He's just a kid!", said one of the men sitting on the oval shaped table now standing up and pointing at me. "How can we depend our lives on a young boy! This is an outrage!", said another. "I demand him killed so that the saber will choose an even better man to protect us!", said one of the woman. This took me by surprise. It seemed that I had become something that I did not want to take part in. "The decision is final!", said the older man.
Suddenly the door opened and a man came in; Perseus. "I have a suggestion, Council Of Elders", said Perseus, "Why not let the boy prove he is worthy in becoming Saberboy." Uh-oh. I looked at Sef's face and it was covered with dread. "And what challenge do you think is suitable for the boy", said the older woman, beginning to listen to Perseus. "I believe a battle with Warlock's monster in Warlock's nest", said Perseus. Sef looked at Perseus in horror. That was a bad sign for me. "And why do you think that challenge is suitable for him?", asked the older man, getting Perseus's full attention. "Why, isn't he the mighty Saberboy? The one who should save us from eternal darkness? If he cannot defeat Warlock's monsters, then he has no chance with Zolan", said Peseus. The room was now full with whisper. It seemed as though nobody dared to interrupt. The older woman and man looked at each other and began to discuss. After a minute or so, the older man said, "We accept your suggestion, Perseus. Saberboy shall challenge Warlock's monsters in Warlock's nest. The challenge shall begin in the coming of the sun of Soltifei. Sef, you are to train Saberboy for the challenge. The decision is final." This time, nobody objected. No, nobody dared to object. Everyone just looked down and walked out of the room. Sef and I walked out of the room with Perseus in front.
When the door was closed, Sef looked at me and sighed. "Damn you Perseus! Why did you suggest such a challenge. He is only a boy", said Sef, looking at Perseus. "It does not matter whether he is a boy or a man, if I am to depend my life on a young boy, then I shall see to it that he is no ordinary boy. Make him strong Sef, to prove to me that he is worthy", said Perseus as he walked away and disappeared in a crowd of people. "What is this challenge?", I asked. I wanted to know what I was up to. It seemed this challenge is no easy job. "Warlock's monsters are a bunch of creatures from the dark. They were used mainly used to train warriors to battle. But awhile later, it was shut off because the creatures were too violent and killed some of the warriors. Now, Perseus is giving you the challenge to kill Warlock's monsters. It is not easy to defeat them but I will do my best to ensure you a victory. We shall discuss about this later. Right now, we need to find you a place to sleep", said Perseus brushing my hair. But I know that he was really worried. The tense in his eyes showed it all. You want to know how I felt at that time? Two words; really scared. I was not up to this. I mean, I'm just a kid like what Sef said but I know that I couldn't chicken out of this. I had to make Sef proud and to prove to Perseus that I am worthy to depend on. That I am able to give my trust to everyone that I can save them. But more importantly, the only reason I wanted to stay was to know my parents past. And to find out what happen to my father.

To Be Continued....
